WTHI News10 viewers look forward to Everett Lau’s late-night weathercasts on weekends. They appreciate the hard work and effort that he puts in for them. However, the meteorologist has revealed that April 17, 2023, was the last day of his weekend evening broadcasts. Everett Lau Wraps Up Last Evening Weathercast
Everett Lau was raised in the Wabash Valley, and Paris, Illinois, is his hometown. He grew up on L&A Family Farms, the site of the sunflower maze.
Lau earned a degree in geography and minors in broadcast meteorology and earth science from Eastern Illinois University.
While he was a student, Lau was the lead meteorologist at WEIU-TV, the university’s PBS-affiliated TV station. Additionally, he hosted the weather, news, and occasionally sports segments for the award-winning news show News Watch.
The Illinois Broadcasters Association acknowledged his work with the Student Silver Dome Award for Best TV Weather. Lau received the National Student Television Award of Excellence from the Mid-America Emmy Awards, a National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences division.
He is also known as The Prairie Press “Weather Wizard.” Lau earned the title in 2014 after writing the Paris newspaper’s weekly predictions and weather features.
The meteorologist, who grew up watching WTHI News10, appears on the station’s broadcasts every weekend at 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. It’s been exactly a year and a half since he has been covering weekend shows.
However, he announced his last day on Sunday’s weekend evening weathercast. This has given rise to rumors that Everett Lau is leaving WTHI-TV.

Lau is not leaving the station. Instead, he is moving to a new timeslot, but it’s still with the weekenders. Now, you can watch him on News10 This Morning at 8 with journalist Caitlin Hunt and News10 at 6 with newscaster Kit Hanley and sports anchor Marty Ledbetter on weekends.
